Obituary of Doris Lenore Payne

Doris Lenore Payne, “Aunt Monkey,” was born in Chipley, Florida on February 3, 1929. She went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2016. Doris married William Lee Payne, Sr. and had a variety of careers including employment at Tinker Air Force Base, Civil Service and as a homemaker. She and “Big Bill” were blessed with 2 children, Karen and William Lee Payne, II. Doris and her family moved to Sapulpa, Oklahoma in the mid 70’s where they established a delightful homestead. Many wonderful memories including family and animals were made over the years. She enjoyed fast cares, fishing, gardening and maintaining the property as well as tending to her animals and family. “Annie Get Your Gun” was an accurate description of her traipsing around in her boots, shotgun in hand! She could fix anything with a “little elbow grease” and bailing wire. One thing is for sure, Heaven has no broken lawnmowers now! Doris was preceded in death by her husband, a WWII Veteran, William Lee Payne, Sr.; and her daughter, Karen Payne. She is survived by her son, William Lee Payne, II; her niece and nephew, Tim and Ann Peters of Ozark Alabama; grandchildren William Lee Payne, III and Maria Wilson; and 2 great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel.
