Obituary of Arland Eugene Self
Arland Eugene Self passed on to his Heavenly Home on July 2, 2016. Arland was born in Blue Bell, Oklahoma on December 29, 1933 to parents Martin Eugene Self and Margie Mae (Brown) Self.
Arland married Lois Cellan March 11, 1958. They were happily married for 58 years. Their union was blessed with four children. He began building their home in 1966 and completed it in 1968. He and Lois raised their family in the home he built for them. Arland worked many years for Roger’s Galvanizing, had an Auto Salvage, hauled hay with his family. He was also his own repairman. He believed you could fix anything with duct tape. He liked playing cards and horse shoes with his family and enjoyed having root beer floats. He was a man with a good heart who never had anything bad to say about anyone. He was a positive person remembered as often saying, “That’s good.”
He was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Margie Self; sisters Jewel, Christine and Louise; brother Earl Preston; and baby twins (brother and sister). He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Lois Self; children Pam, Margie and husband Eugene, Jo, and Cotton and wife Heather; grandchildren Kari, Steve, Robby, Nicholas, Brandon, Scotty and Kevin; 16 grandchildren; sisters Joyce and husband Ed and Macel; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Arland’s family loved him dearly and will cherish their memories of time spent with one another. As Arland would have said about their time together, “That’s good!” He will be deeply missed.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is scheduled from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family has entrusted the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. 9182242312/www.greenhillok.com
