Obituary of Mona Lee Sidebottom

Mona Lee Sidebottom was born in Berryhill, Oklahoma on March 12, 1934 to Purl and Pearl Hibbard. She passed on October 25^th, 2022 at the age of 88.

 She was survived by 4 of her children Floyd Carlile Jr., Steven Carlile, Sheryl Bryan, and Jeffery Carlile, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Mona was the youngest of 5 and was preceded in death by Arthur Hibbard, Odell Hibbard, J.R. Hibbard, and Nelda Gwartney. She was also preceded in death by her 5th child Makayla Carlile.

Mona spent most of her working years cooking at retirement facilities and daycares. She also spent many days caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren in her home. Mona was a strong, kind, and loving mother and grandmother to us all. She was always prepared to help, whether it meant an ear to listen, arms to hug you with, or the occasional threat of making you go pick out a switch which she rarely had to use. She welcomed everyone with open arms. Fishing was one of her past times. Mona enjoyed her brother's pond and her many trips to Lenapah with family and friends. She spent many hours on a bank waiting for “The Big One” to bite. Family get-togethers was something she always looked forward to. She would always cook her famous pies and cakes. Holidays were her favorite times of the year. Mona would spend hours in the kitchen making sure everything was perfect. (Even if that meant throwing it out and starting over.) Her food was always made with love and a few choice words when things didn't go right.

Mona was a pillar of strength for us all. She taught us to never give up. She fought many battles in her 88 years and she always came out on top. Her laugh and smile were infectious. She is missed and will never be forgotten.
